Gardens
From the moment you turn into the sweeping, tree-lined driveway at Birkdale House, the hustle and bustle of nearby Windermere and Bowness will seem a million miles away, despite being just a few minutes’ drive. You’ve arrived.
Occupying an elevated position, the impressive Victorian house stands proudly at the end of the driveway. A stone terrace runs across the front of the house leading to the large patio area to the side, with its barbecue and dining area, complete with fire pit and cosy rugs.
A well-planted border sits in front of the terrace. Stone steps leads to the large front lawn, perfect for lawn games, badminton or croquet. The woodland areas to the side of the house, with traditional Lake District planting such as Rhododendrons and Azaleas, are a haven for wildlife, not to mention a whole new world for young hide-and-seek fans.
And the gardens do not end there. Birkdale House is part of the 470-hectare Matson Ground Estate, boasting an array of walks, not to mention spectacular views of Lake Windermere and the Lake District Fells.
