Lovely September Weekend

We spent a lovely September weekend at the fantastic Birkdale House, and while we were only a small group (due to Covid restrictions) we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

There is a real “wow factor” to the first sight of the main building and gardens, and it feels like you are transported back in time to a much grander era. Once inside, each room is superbly furnished, and truly luxurious.

The superb basement games room adds to family atmosphere, and provides a great lounging area if the grandeur of the reception rooms leaves you a little nervous with smaller guests.

The fully equipped kitchen was wasted on us, simply because we found the huge fire pit in the garden just too good an opportunity to miss.

Upstairs the bedrooms are all well appointed, and the beds extremely welcoming, especially after enjoying a short walk to the local viewing points which are literally on the doorstep.

All in all, we had a great stay, and we can only hope that one day we can return with a bigger family group, and really do the place justice.
