Birkdale

Birkdale House will open again on 10 July 2020 and we would like to provide you with our Covid-19 reassurance strategies.

First of all, we would like to extend a warm welcome back to all our guests.  In order to protect the health and safety of our visitors, we have set out a comprehensive Policy and Guidelines document, as well as a Covid 19 Risk Assessment.

Our Covid-19 Risk Assessment can be found here.

Our Covid-19 policy for guests can be found here.

Further information about our Covid-19 reassurance strategies can be found below.

Check in and check out times

To ensure that the rigorous cleaning processes needed are completed, our check in and check out times have changed:

• Check in will be from 6pm

• Check out will be no later than 9.30am

We hope you understand that we cannot accommodate early arrivals at the current time.

We have also temporarily removed some items to minimise unnecessary touch-points in the property:

• Bedspreads and throws

• Magazines, games and some books

• Maps and local information guides – hopefully you will find all you need to know on our new app

• Some non-essential kitchen equipment

• Additional sets of cutlery and crockery other than that reasonably required for the maximum number of guests permitted at the property.

Help us to help you

We do appreciate that you are on holiday and we wish you to relax and enjoy this wonderful place as much as possible. However, you can help us to continue to provide the best standards of hygiene for future guests.

• Please strip any beds which have been used, and leave wrapped inside the duvet cover.

• Keep the property well ventilated during your stay and on the morning of your departure, open all windows – except in extreme inclement weather – to allow good air flow through the property.

THANK YOU!

If you need to cancel

We understand that there may be Covid-19 related circumstances which occur shortly before arrival or during your stay which may result in having to cancel or depart early from your cottage.

For this reason, we strongly recommend to all our guests that they take out cancellation insurance for their holiday.

In the event that you have to cancel your holiday prior to arrival because one of your party has suspected Coronavirus symptoms or has tested positive for Covid 19, we will firstly offer to re-book your stay for a later date. If this is not possible, a full refund will be given.

If you show Coronavirus symptoms or test positive for Covid 19 whilst staying in the property and have to return home before the end of your holiday, a pro rata refund for the time lost on the stay will be given.

If you develop symptoms

If you or one of your party displays signs of the Covid-19 virus either on arrival or while staying at the cottage, you should inform us and immediately self-isolate where you can minimise any risk of transmission. You should also request a test.

More information on requesting a test.

As a reminder, the main symptoms are:

• High temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature).

• New, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual).

• Loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal.

Most people with coronavirus have at least one of these symptoms.

If you need medical advice about your symptoms please click here

What happens if you test positive for Covid-19?

If you or any of your group are confirmed to have Covid-19, you should all return home if you can. We would be delighted to welcome you back at a later date. It is advised to use private transport but only drive yourself if you can do so safely. A full pro rata refund will be given for any loss of stay.

If you cannot reasonably return home (for example because you are not well enough to travel), we will discuss your specific circumstances with you, guided by an appropriate health care professional.

Once you have returned to your main residence, you should continue to follow the government guidance on self-isolation, household isolation and social distancing.
